#SH with Dionne Hughes

Hey Dionne, can you introduce yourself to us?

Can you take us through your self-love journey to where you are now?

Hi, my journey to loving myself started when I was younger. I didn’t receive a lot of nurturing from my mom, like I wanted. Not saying she didn’t provide it; It just wasn’t the way that I needed for me, then. So I began to love myself, by doing all of the things I wanted from others, including her, for myself. I decided when I had my own children that I was going to show them how to love each other by being the best example of what loving yourself can be. ❤️

What are some of your favorite self-love + self-care practices?

Constantly reminded myself that I am enough. Not only for me but for the world.

How would you like your self-love journey to inspire other women?

I would love for my journey to be an inspiration of what you want, you may not always receive it from others. But you can teach yourself that you don’t need what you already have.

What is the best compliment that you’ve received?

I am a great mother. And they love how proud I am of my children.

What is one major change that you made in your life that has affected you most positively?

I stopped trying to make someone love me like I wanted them to. Just accepted them the way they show and express love. Even if I don’t like it.

What inspired you to start your own businesses?

My children were my inspiration. I wanted and needed another stream of income. I enjoyed baking their birthday cakes. So I turned it into a business.

Where can you see yourself within the next 3-5 years?

In the next 3-5 years. I see myself, In a new career, married and traveling the world.

What is the most valuable advice that you can give women looking to become entrepreneurs?

The start my be easy, then it may turn rough. But never give up. There are hurdles in all walks of life. But if you believe in your product, your dream, your vision, etc.. don’t ever let anyone tell you that you are not enough.

What is the best piece of business advice you have received to date?

Stay true to me. Don’t conform to what the world wants

How did you learn to be so confident?

I gained my confidence through modeling in my teens. I was not a confident young lady. I was skinny. I felt like the ugly duckling. Everyone that I liked, liked someone else. Who was curvier or prettier than I. Modeling helped me get up on stage in front of hundreds of strangers to show I am me. No matter what others may think. I never looked back. 💋

How do you measure your own terms of success?

By the happiness of my clients.

What does #SelfHoneymoon mean to you?

Loving myself just as much as one loves you after an accomplishment

How would you like your story to inspire other women?

To show them if this once little ugly duckling can blossom and become a beautiful Godly follower so can you.

Lastly, what in your self-transformation journey are you looking forward to exploring next?

Constantly maturing my mind and my heart and children
