#SH with Bee Patrice

Hey Bee, can you introduce yourself to us?

Hi, I'm Bee Patrice, I am 29 years old residing in Charlotte, NC. My childhood dynamic was a little different, former military kid. My father was in the Air Force. So, I moved around often during my childhood. However, after my father retired I grew up in Fayetteville, NC. I was fortunate to have the opportunities to meet new people and experience different cities and countries. On the other hand, I always had to leave friends and make new friends. Ultimately, constantly trying to navigate find my place. Fast forward to today, I am currently an early invention speech-language pathologist. Specializing in providing language and feeding supports to birth to 3 year olds. I am also a business owner. I recently created a women empowerment social organization called “Do you, sis!”.

What inspired you to create “Do you, sis!”?

I created Do you, sis! Because I am the friend that others seek advice, support or just need a listening ear. Within the past couple of years I noticed how though we all have different experiences there is actually a lot similarity between us. I wanted to create a space that brought women together to let them see and know they are not alone. The mission is to provide uplifting and empowering dialogue through sister circle meetings. As well as host impactful and powerful social events for women without fear or pressure to have engagement in fostering and establishing healthy friendships, support, identity and community.

Can you take us through your self-love journey to where you are now?

My biggest challenge during my self-love journey was the constant seeking of validation from others. Through this new place and space that I am in and have finally come to the point of acceptance and embracing my uniqueness and ultimately choosing me, as well as whole-heartedly loving me. I have been able to dig deep into who I am, where I am and where I am going. I would pray all the time for God to show me what it is that I needed to let go. Once, I saw the things that had been holding me back, such as- constant seeking, comparison and need for approval from others, just to "fit in". The biggest question I would ask myself was "WHY?". It came back to self-love. Once, you truly start loving yourself and seeing the love that God has and wants for you, nothing anyone can say or do can take that away from you.

What was the most eye-opening part of your journey of becoming more confident?

What was the biggest lesson that you learned in accepting yourself?

What are some of your favorite self-love + self-care practices?

How would you like your self-love journey to inspire other women?

I believe that my testimony can ultimately show women a different perspective to live. That we don’t have to a place of “victimization” or “why is this always happening to me”. That though bad things can happen to us, does not mean we have to continue to let those experience hold us back from our purpose. I have overcome so many different things; from not feeling I truly belonged, trauma, anxiety, failed relationships, and battling Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS). I want to help women truly embrace who they are, find their voices and live life unapologetically.
